Our Board of Directors

ARED has its origin in initiatives for sustainable social and economic development and management of Alaska's renewable resources. ARED’s Board of Director’s bring over 150 years combined experience in progressive development activities:

• Careers in management and research, of natural resources in government and the private organizations.

• Successful facilitation of partnership's between local, state and federal agencies, tribes and private organizations for the benefit of progressive & collaborative sustainable resource management.

• Development & management of world class salmon hatcheries in Southeast Alaska (collectively propagated more than one billion salmon)

Our work in this arena catalyzed one of our pilot projects: Development of our Wild Salmon Restoration Initiative, utilizing lessons learned from genetics and fish husbandry in the hatchery environment and further developing methodologies that further emulate natural wild processes.

It is from this knowledge base and experience that a broad scope of vision for collaboration has been realized and pursued and affords the best possibility for creating a win-win environment.

Our collective experience is tempered with an understanding, put into action, that any development, regardless of its size and scope, is and always will be, a work in progress. 

This approach often realizes benefits that exceed the sum of the collective parts.

These views are often regarded as lofty unattainable goals. It is ARED's assertion that these views should be imbedded in the foundation charter of development projects, to foster success of a given project that could not be realized in an atmosphere of adversarial interests, or projects forced by special interests to realize success at a weighty cost to our natural environment.
